===== Create your first pages =====

Your wiki needs a start page. Until it exists, this link will be red: [[start]] .

Go on, follow that link and create the page. If you need help with the syntax, you can always refer to the [[en:wiki:syntax|syntax page]].

You might also want to use a sidebar. To create one, simply edit the [[sidebar]] page. Everything on that page will be displayed in a sidebar column. Read our [[doku>faq:sidebar|FAQ on sidebars]] to find out more.

Please note that not all templates support sidebars.

===== Customise your Wiki =====

Once you’re comfortable with creating and editing pages, you might want to take a look at the [[this>doku.php?do=admin&page=config|configuration settings]] (be sure to log in as a superuser first).

You may also want to see what [[doku>plugins|plugins]] and [[doku>templates|templates]] are available on DokuWiki.org to extend the functionality and appearance of your DokuWiki installation.

DokuWiki is an open-source project that thrives on user contributions. A good way to stay up to date with the latest developments and to get useful tips on using DokuWiki is to subscribe to the [[doku>newsletter]] .
